Author: Brianne Turczynski

I'm the host and creator of the podcast, Loving the Imperfect. I'm a freelance writer and historical researcher in Detroit. I hold a master’s degree in education from Oakland University with a concentration in English and history. My fiction and poetry have appeared in Halcyone Magazine, The 3288 Review, The Write Launch, and the Ketchup Press. My nonfiction has been featured in Valley Living Magazine, Michigan Out of Doors Magazine, and Planet Detroit News. I have won awards for my writing through Oakland University, and my film, Not For Sale was selected for four film festivals. In my spare time, I whittle, repair broken violins, and I love to fish. I reside somewhere in Michigan with my husband, children, and the fastest dog that ever lived.

The book of Jonah

“You have been concerned about this plant [providing you shade], though you did not tend it or make it grow. It sprang up overnight and died overnight. And should I not have concern for the great city Nineveh, in which there are more than a hundred and twenty thousand people who cannot tell their right … Continue reading The book of Jonah

The book of James

“With the tongue, we praise our Lord and Father and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters this should not be. Can freshwater and saltwater flow from the same spring? My brothers and sisters, can a … Continue reading The book of James

The book of Obadiah

“On that day you stood aloof while strangers carried off his wealth and foreigners entered his gates and cast lots for Jerusalem, you were like one of them.” (Obadiah 1:11) The last part of this verse reminds me of the Psalm of David 22:18 and the gospels when Christ was crucified and lots were divided … Continue reading The book of Obadiah

The book of Amos

“Seek good, not evil, that you may live.” (Amos 5:14) What if we changed this a bit? Instead of God always pointing at us with these statements, God instead points back at God. What if we changed it to, “Seek good, not evil, that GOD may live."? Now we seek good not for ourselves, but … Continue reading The book of Amos

The Book of Joel

“Blow the trumpet in Zion; sound the alarm on my holy hill. Let all who live in the land tremble, for the day of the Lord is coming. It is close at hand...” (Joel 2:1)Here Joel is the watchman warning the people of the plague of Locusts who will devour all the vegetation and make … Continue reading The Book of Joel

The book of Hosea

“It was I who taught Ephraim to walk, taking them by the arms; but they did not realize it was I who healed them. I led them with cords of human kindness, with ties of love. To them, I was like one who lifts a little child to the cheek, and I bent down to … Continue reading The book of Hosea

The book of 1 & 2 Thessalonians

January 2, 2021 ~ Brianne Turczynski ~ Leave a comment

“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances, for this, is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” –(1 Thessalonians 5:16-18) This first letter from Paul to the Thessalonians was misinterpreted. So he wrote a second letter (2 Thessalonians) to urge them to quit their idleness and get to work as some in the … Continue reading The book of 1 & 2 Thessalonians

💥 HAPPY NEW YEAR!!💥 First Bible post of 2021… “No wise man, enchanter, magician or diviner can explain to the king the mystery he has asked about, but there is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries…” (Daniel 2:27-28) Here Daniel is called to interpret a dream of the feared king of Babylon, Nebuchadnezzar. I … Continue reading The book of Daniel

Homemade Christmas Gifts

December 27, 2020December 27, 2020 ~ Brianne Turczynski ~ 2 Comments

Made my Christmas gifts this year! The nativity and the angel were done in oak from a special family tree. I tried to keep the integrity of the tree as much as possible. Then there is Neil Young, a couple of them, because I needed to practice. The one most like him is on the … Continue reading Homemade Christmas Gifts
